About the project

HealthCraft is an EU-funded project promoting health education and healthy lifestyles among children aged 8–12 in Ireland, Greece, and across Europe. In response to rising concerns like childhood obesity, poor nutrition, and mental health challenges, the project uses innovative, engaging tools to help build lifelong healthy habits. HealthCraft goes beyond teaching healthy habits by also developing key competences in both children and educators through innovative, engaging methods. Recognising that children’s lifestyles are shaped by many factors, the project uses accessible tools to support positive behaviour change. Through a combination of short training videos and interactive video games, HealthCraft transforms traditional health education into an enjoyable and meaningful experience. By leveraging the popularity of Minecraft, the resources create a fun, immersive learning environment tailored to children aged 8–12.

HealthCraft recognises that schools play a vital role in promoting healthy lifestyles and has actively involved primary school teachers and experts in developing the resources to ensure maximum impact. Educational materials and activities are designed to be adaptable and accessible for all children, regardless of their circumstances.

By embedding HealthCraft into the school environment and tailoring content to reflect diverse needs, HealthCraft aims to create equitable opportunities for every child to develop healthy habits that support long-term wellbeing. The resources are designed for classroom or home use, combining bite-sized training videos available on YouTube, interactive Minecraft Education Edition worlds, and a downloadable Teachers Toolkit.
