Developing empathy, self-awareness and social skills.

Nowadays, with daily stress, fast pace of life and our high exposure to violent events, the development of emotional intelligence in people and especially in children is extremely important. Children, first and foremost, need to feel accepted by their family, school and society and to know that there is a supportive environment for them at all times. Anyone who provides care or educates children needs to help them feel safe and secure so that they can develop their skills, recognise their feelings, and seek ways to manage negative emotions. Adults seeking to develop innovative methodologies to help children in the process of developing empathy, self-awareness and social skills need to recognise the importance of emotional intelligence, ways to improve it and how it positively affects impact. Through Active listening, diversity acceptance, creation of an environment that children can speak freely and be listened, we as parents, caregivers, educators, teachers etc. we can equip children with strong-based relationships and empower the next generation.
